Recognition is what you need when the point is status rather than money: proving that a divorce granted abroad is valid here, or that a foreign court has already settled a question. It does not let you seize anything; for that you need tenfiz.
Commonly confused with
The practical difference is what you want to do next. If you want your Turkish records to reflect a foreign judgment, recognition is usually enough. If you want to collect against assets in Türkiye, recognition alone will not do it.
Where you meet this word
In family matters above all — a foreign divorce that has not been recognised can leave you still registered as married in Türkiye.
